Cookie Policy
A plain-English explanation of the cookies we set, what they do, and how to control them.
Last updated: 1 March 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow websites to remember information across page loads — for example, keeping you logged in or remembering your preferences.
We also use similar technologies such as local storage and session storage in our web dashboard. For simplicity, we refer to all of these collectively as "cookies" in this policy.
2. Cookies we use
We use a small number of cookies, grouped by purpose:
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| sbt_session | Strictly necessary | Keeps you logged in to the admin dashboard. | Session |
| sbt_refresh | Strictly necessary | Stores a secure token to refresh your session without logging in again. | 30 days |
| sbt_csrf | Strictly necessary | Protects forms against cross-site request forgery attacks. | Session |
| sbt_prefs | Functional | Remembers your dashboard preferences (e.g. sidebar collapsed). | 1 year |
| _vercel_* | Strictly necessary | Set by Vercel infrastructure for edge routing and A/B deployment. | Session |
We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or analytics cookies. We do not load Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any similar third-party tracking script.
3. Strictly necessary cookies
The session, refresh, and CSRF cookies listed above are essential for the admin dashboard to work securely. Without them, you cannot log in or use the platform.
Because these cookies are strictly necessary, they do not require your consent under applicable law and cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.
4. Functional cookies
The sbt_prefs cookie saves UI preferences in your browser so the dashboard looks the way you left it. It contains no personal data — only preference flags like whether the sidebar is expanded.
5. Cookies on the marketing website
Our public website (schoolbustrack.ng) uses no cookies from third-party analytics or advertising networks. The only cookies set on the marketing site are those required for the contact form CSRF protection and, if you sign up, the session cookies described above.
6. How to control cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Here are links to guidance for the major browsers:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions
Note that deleting strictly necessary cookies will log you out of the admin dashboard and may affect platform functionality.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the cookies we set or applicable law. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes we will notify active account holders by email.
8. Contact us
If you have questions about our use of cookies, please email privacy@schoolbustrack.ng or use our contact form.
